Your Children, Our Responsibility.
Sport and physical activity play a huge role in our lives and our children’s lives. The impacts of sport extend well beyond the years of athletic participation. Sport contributes to building our children’s character and other important attributes, such as teamwork, dedication and a sense of achievement. A healthy participation in sport improves confidence and quality of life for our children. The Academy’s responsibility is to assist juniors with that endeavour, teaching them fundamental principles that will help them along the way.
As the Founding Director of Geron’s Performance Academy, I am excited to share my principles and philosophy that aim to help children build a better athletic foundation for their sporting success. Our principles are based on the latest sport science research, enabling children to improve their physical performance through advanced training methods.
Let’s do things the right way.
Having worked with children from different sporting backgrounds for many years, coupled with my Sport Science background, I have been able to identify some fundamental gaps in their training and sporting performance. Over the course of the next few months, I’m looking forward to blogging about educating young children and youth on their body and how it works. I’ll discuss fundamentals such as running and landing mechanics, reaction, timing, speed, strength, power, balance and stability and how each component is responsible for an athlete’s ability to perform. I’ll also address injury prevention through explaining principles that enable juniors to self-manage and avoid injury.
Our goal is to help you in any way we can, whether it’s helping your child perform better in their desired sport, helping them attain an athletic or sporting achievement, or even just putting a smile on their face. Confidence is built through achievement. Accomplishing in physical activity propels children’s confidence, allowing them to better tackle anything they face and, in-turn, boosts their quality of life – and that’s what we’re all about!
